The Eddy is a 6-storey, LEED Platinum-certified, mixed-used development in Hintonburg, a transitioning neighbourhood in Ottawa.

Completed in 2016, The Eddy involved remediation of a brownfield site and achieved LEED Platinum certification in the Homes Multi-Family Midrise category. The development also features the 5BY2 puzzle parking system. Accommodating 47 vehicles, this system was implemented to efficiently contend with the constraints of the building footprint and to eliminate air pollution beneath living spaces.

One Planet Living Impact Highlights

Zero Carbon EnergyThe Eddy was among the first mid-rise condominium projects in Ottawa to include a geo-exchange system for heating and cooling. This system saves on carbon and provides residents and tenants with operational cost savings. The building also features a high-performance building envelope, and each unit has a dedicated ERV (energy recovery ventilators) mean fresh air is directly provided in an energy-efficient manner.

Sustainable WaterThe building harvests rainwater and re-uses it in toilets and for irrigating the rooftop terrace that offers individual garden plots and communal recreational areas.

Travel and TransportThe Eddy is conveniently located close to public transport. It also has a dedicated, secure bike storage room off the building lobby – and Canada’s first fully automatic, underground puzzle parking system. Not only does this parking system use 60% less space, it also keeps emissions outside the building.
