Situated near an abundance of parks and recreation centres, bus stops, and the future Corso Italia LRT stop, this urban infill project will pursue international endorsement as a One Planet Living Community.
The site at 384 Arlington is in Ottawa’s West Centretown neighbourhood and currently houses the Ottawa Korean Community Church (OKCC), a late 19th century building in disrepair. The purpose-built rental, reaching 24 storeys, will retain the church’s north and west facades to maintain the site’s heritage context and will incorporate community space and a community garden. The church has outgrown its home and is building a larger facility outside of the downtown area.
Travel and TransportThe project is situated in one of Ottawa’s best connected neighbourhoods. It will focus on active and innovative mobility solutions meant to improve health outcomes and reduce transportion-related emissions
Zero Carbon EnergyThis Project will implement an ambitious zero carbon strategy exploring on-site geothermal energy, solar generation, lower emission concrete and bio-based materials
Culture and CommunityThe site of the project is part of a vibrant multicultural community that dates to the late 19th century. It is steps away from Chinatown, Little Italy, Hintonburg and The Glebe. A portion of the church will be retained, and rooftop gardens, community space and affordable housing through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation will be added.
