The Parkway House project, located in one of the city’s most demographically diverse communities, is pursuing international endorsement as a One Planet Living community.
The three-building condo and rental project will replace and incorporate a space for Parkway House — a non-profit care facility for people with disabilities requiring 24/7 care. Located in Lincoln Fields, a section of the Britannia Village neighbourhood, the project will replace the existing building with a new, modern facility that better accommodates its residents and creates a long-term sustainable future for the organization by leveraging under-utilized land. Residents will benefit from the projects proximity to the future Lincoln Fields LRT Station and nearby trails and cycling paths.
Zero Carbon EnergyParkway House will reduce its environmental impact and, where possible, positively contribute to the surrounding ecosystem and climate system. The project will strive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by focusing on embodied carbon, building envelope, thermal comfort and operational emissions
Culture and CommunityWith inspiration from Parkway House, the development will be an inclusive community that honours the local culture and spirit. Parkway House is accessible to residents and visitors of all ages, abilities, cultural and economic backgrounds. The project will focus on spaces for cultural celebrations, diverse voices, affordability and health.
Land and NatureThe site is located within walking distance to water, greenspace and large parks, including the Ottawa River and Mud Lake, a 60-hector complex of wetlands home to a wide variety of animal species. Opportunities to consume and grow local food will support mental and physical health.
