Whitewater Village is a sustainable, all-season cottage community located on a bay of the Ottawa River, just over an hour west of the City.
Whitewater Village consists of 10 luxury log cabins nestled within a 34-acre forested peninsula and surrounded by water. As Ottawa’s first fractional cottage ownership property, it offers a unique approach to cottage ownership. Sustainability and responsibility for the natural environment, as well as a built-in social network, were the founding principles for this private cottage club.
Health and HappinessWhitewater Villages’ shared ownership model offers all the benefits of cottage life without any of the hassles. Surrounded by the vast beauty of the Ottawa Valley, the property allows residents to enjoy a host of healthy outdoor pursuits, from hiking to biking and paddling and skiing straight from the door.
Zero Carbon EnergyNo fossil fuels are used on site. Instead, Whitewater Village uses a geothermal heating and cooling system. This reduces the property’s carbon footprint and allows it to be heated and cooled in a more energy-efficient manner.
Material and ProductsThe wood used to build Whitewater Village’s signature log cabins was locally harvested. This included recovering pine logs from the Ottawa River and reusing wood recovered from barn boards at local farms. Other environmentally-friendly building materials were used, including high fly-ash content concrete and rapidly renewable and zero-offgassing materials for interior finishes.
